Privacy Policy

How InFocus | Elements blocker handles data.

InFocus | Elements blocker stores its settings locally on the user's device. It does not send user data to the developer or any third party and does not use analytics, advertising, user accounts, or remote servers.

1. Purpose of the extension

InFocus lets users manually select and hide distracting elements on a specific web page or across an entire website. Saved rules are reapplied when the user returns to an authorized website.

2. Data handled by the extension

The extension handles only the data required to create and apply hiding rules:

When the element picker is active, InFocus reads the page structure and element styles to highlight the element, generate a CSS selector, validate matches, and create a short label. When rules are enabled, it checks the page structure to hide matching elements. The page's full text, images, form values, passwords, and communications are not collected or sent to the developer.

Browsing activity

InFocus stores only the hostname and, for page-specific rules, the path of pages on which the user explicitly creates a hiding rule. It does not create a general browsing history and does not record visit times.

User interaction

While the picker is open, the extension responds to pointer movement, clicks, scrolling, resizing, and keyboard commands required for element selection. These interactions are not logged, retained, or transmitted.

3. How data is used

Data is used solely to display saved rules, determine where each rule applies, and hide or restore the elements selected by the user. It is not used for profiling, advertising, credit decisions, analytics, or any unrelated purpose.

4. Storage and retention

Rules are stored locally using chrome.storage.local. They remain on the device until the user deletes a rule or removes the extension. InFocus does not provide cloud synchronization and does not maintain a developer-controlled copy of the data.

InFocus does not sell, transfer, or disclose user data to the developer, advertisers, data brokers, or other third parties.

The extension does not execute remote JavaScript or WebAssembly. All executable code is included in the extension package.

8. Limited Use compliance

The use of information received from Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data is used only to provide the extension's user-facing element-hiding functionality.

9. Changes to this policy

If the extension's data practices change, this policy and the Chrome Web Store disclosures will be updated before the changed version is published. The latest revision date appears at the top of this page.
